Salary range £75k - £80k according to experience
(may be negotiable for an exceptional candidate)
As you would expect, we’re looking for applications of the highest calibre for this role, which will be pivotal in delivering our ambition for education in Doncaster.
Let’s start with the core skills: a proven track record of leadership and achievement within the secondary phase is essential, along with a demonstrable drive to maintain a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. It could well be your first headship, if you can point to a consistent track record of system-level achievement as a Deputy in a large and complex setting.
Committed to creating a world-class educational environment, you’ll also have the awareness to see the bigger picture, beyond our immediate scope: you’ll help to shape how the UTC can actively contribute to making Doncaster and the wider region a byword for digital and engineering excellence. Engaging, inspiring and intellectually curious, you’ll relish being a visible and accountable leader, able to develop constructive and credible relationships with stakeholders and business leaders, as well as students, families and communities. While many UTCs are closely focused into one STEM sector, our industry partners cover a varied range of specialisms; so you need to be able to rapidly absorb and understand new contexts.
The background to our UTC application demonstrates our Doncaster grit, and an absolute refusal to take no for an answer; we’ll look for evidence of a similar resilience, optimism and determination to make the right things happen in your application. Crucially, we also want you to continue challenging and stretching the model; any assumption that we simply want someone to launch the UTC, and then switch on cruise-control, would be pretty wide of the mark.
